Silver Valley is in the process of building its second era of greatness. Few places have ever had the chance to claim a first. Ours came from the discovery of gold here in 1881. It didn't take prospectors long to find silver and other metals in abundance as well. Over the years, this region became the greatest silver mining center in the country. Our Sunshine Mine has produced over 300 million ounces (or 10,500 tons) of silver alone! In fact, the value of metals produced in the Silver Valley has exceeded $4.6 billion.

Along the way, fortunes were made, towns were built and people who came here for mining found another kind of paradise. Mountains, abundant forests, hunting, fishing and other outdoor recreation added to a rural quality of life that continues to draw people who value these treasures.
